ENTRANT NEWSLETTER

Well we have only 3 months to go, we are excited at the prospect of a great time to be had by all entrants, and we are happy to report that planning is going smoothly.
Contained within this newsletter is an event itinerary, map of Warwick (See link above) showing event venues and car washes, shopping centres etc.  Also some useful information on things to do around Warwick while the Nationals is on.  Please ensure you bring your Entrant Confirmation letter with you.  While you are in Warwick the weather will be nice warm days and cold nights.


Event Itinerary

Friday 3rd September
Registration and Scrutineering
9:00am to 5:00pm
Warwick Showgrounds, Kingsford Street – Map ref F7 (See link at top of page)

Enter by Kingsford Street gate and a Marshall will be there to direct traffic, here you will register your attendance and receive your goodies bag, pre ordered merchandise and windscreen entrant sticker.  Meanwhile, your Monaro will undergo the scrutineering process, involving a basic check of condition and confirm judging category, if applicable.

Meet & Greet
6.00pm to 9.00pm
Warwick RSL Memorial Club, Albion Street – Map ref E7 (see link at top of page)

Enjoy an informal gathering, with complimentary finger food, drinks available at bar prices.  Catch up on old friends and make some new ones.  Parking is available at the RSL and the Information Centre, there will be a Security Guard to watch over the cars.

Saturday 4th September
Show and Shine
7:00am to 9:00am – Arrive and Setup
Warwick Showgrounds, Palmerin Street – Map ref F7 (see link to map at top of page)

Enter Palmerin street into the showgrounds, you will be directed onto the oval and into position.  Once in position, you may detail your car.  Please remember to have the bonnet and boot open/ajar for cars being judged – Closure of boot/bonnet will result in your vehicle not being judged. 
 Speed limits MUST BE ADHERED TO AT ALL TIMES. CARS MUST REMAIN PARKED UNTIL 3:30pm (no exceptions)
9:00am – Gates open to Public
Lots to see and do planned for big and little kids, entrants and public alike.

Sunday 5th September
Drag Racing Spectacular!!!
9:30am to 4.30pm

Warwick Drag Club, Morgan Park Complex, Old Stanthorpe Road – Map ref B31

Competitors will be grouped into two brackets or classes, being Super Street and Street Class.  Super Street will comprise of the faster cars, with the remainder being in Street Class.
Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class, also Top Qualifier.
All drivers MUST wear a crash helmet, long sleeved shirt and long pants and covered in footwear (NO thongs/sandals).
Licence fee $5 payable on the day.

9:30am – 10:00am Driver Briefing
10:00am – 12:30am Qualifying Runs
12:30pm – 1:00pm Lunch Break
1:00pm – 4:00pm Racing/Elimination runs
4:00pm – 4:30pm Trophies to be presented

For those not interested in Drag Racing
There is a half day Steam Train Ride available to Clifton. The cost of this is Adults $30 and Kids $25 (age 4 to 13). There are limited seat no’s on the train.  The train departs the Southern Downs Rail Station at 10am arriving back by 3:30pm, lunch is available at Clifton.  If wishing to go on the train money and numbers need to be paid by end of July payable to “Monaro Club of Queensland Inc” or direct debited to Bank of Qld BSB No: 124037 ACC No: 10180248.

Alternative/ Option for Entrants not interested in attending the Drags on Sunday ( 5th September ), Starts approx 10.00am.
 Visit to “ Aussie Muscle Car Museum “, located in an outer Northern Brisbane Suburb
(Strathpine area)
 Cost is  $20.00 Adults, Children under 14, $15.00. Tour takes approx 4 Hrs.
 Booking is essential, min. 8 People.
Drinks available for purchase, food available at nearby Shops.

Presentation Dinner & Awards
6:00pm to Late
Warwick Indoor Aquatic Centre, Palmerin Street – Map ref C6

We will be enjoying dinner, with drinks available at the bar prices, items for auction. Dress is Smart Casual. There will be a Security Guard to watch over the cars.
All trophies will be presented on the night, except for the Drag Racing which will be done at the drags.


Monday 6th September
Cruise and Farwell BBQ

Meeting at Warwick Showgrounds entering by Palmerin Street gate, for a scenic cruise of the local area and finishing at Leslie Park for a BBQ lunch were we will park on cars in the street.  The street will be cordoned off for Monaro Parking only.
The BBQ lunch will be supplied by the Monaro Club of Queensland.
